NTRU Core TCG Software Stack Licensed to STMicroelectronics for Packaging with Advanced 1.2 Trusted Platform Module One of World’s Largest Semiconductor Vendors Bundles NTRU Software to Provide Enhanced Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Compliant Products. Burlington, Mass. - September 7, 2004 - NTRU Cryptosystems Inc., the trusted computing experts, today announced that STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) has licensed the NTRU Core TCG Software Stack (CTSS). ST Microelectronics will now be able to integrate the NTRU CTSS into their recently announced TCG compliant 1.2 solution. The combination of the NTRU CTSS and ST TPM will provide an unmatched level of security and interoperability to customers developing TCG compliant desktops and laptops. As specified by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), the NTRU CTSS provides the essential core interface and security services framework for any application that relies on the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). “We selected the NTRU CTSS because it not only has the flexibility to work with multiple operating systems, but more importantly because we know the quality of product they deliver,” said Alain Jarre, STMicroelectronics. “NTRU has significant expertise in all aspects of TCG and that is reflected in the superior design of their CTSS. Their consulting work and security analysis, coupled with their crypto background makes them an excellent resource for any organization looking to develop TCG application or products. The NTRU CTSS is designed in accordance with the TCG TSS standard and is enhanced with strong, standards compliant cryptographic libraries. The CTSS provides a set of software components that allows applications and peripherals to take advantage of a platform's TPM hardware module in a coordinated, consistent, and portable manner. The CTSS has been thoroughly tested on Windows and Linux operating systems and will ensure interoperability across platforms using different hardware and software. “STMicroelectronics is a leader in the semiconductor industry and they have recognized that security and ease of use is critical to realizing the potential of trusted computing applications and products,” said Ed King, CEO of NTRU. “NTRU continues to be a leader in the trusted computing space as consultants, security experts and product designers. By designing a flexible TSS, we are providing a critical link in the trusted computing chain that will bring trusted computing solutions to companies and consumers everywhere.”Features of the NTRU CTSS The NTRU CTSS can be used for any applications that use a TSS and it will interoperate with cryptographic service providers (CSP) for easy use by higher-level applications.
Features of the ST TPM module The basis of ST’s TCG 1.2 solution is a single-chip Trusted Platform Module – the ST19WP18 – a full-featured 8-bit microcomputer in the company’s ST19W family of security-proven MCUs with an advanced cryptographic co-processor (1088-bit Modular Arithmetic Processor, called MAP) supporting Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) functions and dedicated to smart card and other secure applications. It includes a 33-MHz Intel-compliant Low Pin Count (LPC) Interface as recommended by TCG PC Client Specific Trusted Platform Module (TPM) Implementation Specification (TIS) for communication with the host processor.
