NTRU Professional Services Team and Microsoft to Develop Next-Generation Computing Solutions
NTRU Launches Professional Services Unit in Collaboration with World's Leading Software Vendor
Burlington, Mass. - July 21, 2003 - NTRU, the information security experts today announced the formal launch of its professional service group, which will provide comprehensive security expertise to organizations worldwide. The formal launch as a business unit of NTRU's long-established professional services group will enable NTRU to more readily assist many of its world-class customers in developing secure implementations and applications. The NTRU professional service group works with clients at any stage of the design cycle to deliver fully-rounded, secure, cost-effective solutions. From system security analysis to highly optimized implementations on the most constrained platforms, NTRU provides practical security consulting services that are tailored for specific application environments.
"We applaud NTRU for creating a new professional services group and we welcome their contributions as we work to develop the Next Generation Secure Computing Base (NGSCB)," said John Manferdelli, general manager of the Windows Trusted Platform Infrastructures group at Microsoft Corp. NGSCB is a new security technology for the Microsoft Windows platform. It uses a unique hardware and software design to give people new kinds of security and privacy protections in an interconnected world. NGSCB will be integrated into a future version of the Microsoft Windows operating system.
Microsoft and NTRU are collaborating to ensure that the technology behind NGSCB solutions will offer customers a new level of trust for mission-critical information and applications. NTRU is:
- Providing a security analysis for a trusted computing base in the presence of un-trusted software.
- Working to ensure that un-trusted software and the trusted computing base could cooperatively share secure hardware resources without compromising the security of the other entity.
- Working to ensure conformance and synergy with specifications for trusted computing hardware components developed by the Trusted Computing Platform Alliance (TCPA). This work will continue as new specifications are approved by TCPA's successor organization, the Trusted Computing Group (TCG).
"We are very excited to expand our professional services practice and support Microsoft in realizing their vision of a trustworthy computing environment," said Ed King, General Manager of NTRU. "NGSCB has the potential to reduce the risks and costs of doing business and directly addresses the needs of the newly security conscious world. We are looking forward to working with Microsoft and their partners to assist them in providing applications that leverage this technology."
NTRU's professional services team is composed of experienced security analysts, engineers and cryptographers. By understanding how a product or system is used in the field NTRU can help customers assess the risks that they will encounter and collaboratively design appropriate security solutions. The NTRU team has extensive experience in analyzing and implementing solutions, both large and small, in a wide range of application areas. NTRU's key core competencies include (but not limited to):
- High Assurance Computing: The NTRU team's expertise ranges from system assessment to cryptographic services. NTRU's experts stay current through research initiatives, work on standards bodies and collaborative work with partners and customers. Key high assurance competencies include, Microsoft NGSCB, Trusted Computing Group (TCG) TCPA Specifications and implementation and FIPS 140-2 product readiness assessment and development.
- Secure Wireless Networking: NTRU security experts have led the development of several significant wireless networking solutions. This work includes the development of comprehensive security architectures for ad hoc wireless 802.15.3 and 802.15.4 networks, allowing for easy association and disassociation of devices. At the architecture level, NTRU consultants helped to select an appropriate security topology, assess, design and select appropriate protocols, and enable key exchange, bulk encryption and authentication, key rollover and secure hand-off from one access point to another. At the engineering level, NTRU integrated security functionality into existing frame formats and designed appropriate key-management interfaces.
- Protocol Analysis and Design: NTRU security professionals can analyze a system holistically, ensure threats are well understood, derive security requirements and develop protocols appropriate to the unique constraints of customer environments. NTRU takes a collaborative approach, working with customers and their subject matter experts to ensure a thorough understanding of the system and its usage models
- Embedded Security Analysis and Design: NTRU's technical staff has deep expertise in embedded security analysis, design and implementation. Its research team consists of a group of world-renowned mathematicians and cryptographers who perform pioneering research on and implementation of RSA, Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), and the NTRU algorithm suite.
