NTRUSign Licensed to Sony Corporation

NTRU's Small, Fast, Strong Encryption to Secure CE device

Burlington, Mass. - April 14, 2003 - NTRU Cryptosystems Inc., the embedded security experts today announced that they have licensed NTRUSign to Sony (NYSE: SNE) Corporation. This security technology will be used to bring a new level of trusted information exchange to consumer electronic devices by delivering high-speed, small-footprint security. By incorporating NTRUSign Sony will be able to deliver a first-to-market consumer product that does not sacrifice performance for strong security or low cost. NTRUSign will enable a wide-range of consumer electronic devices with authentication capabilities, ensuring that the device and/or user is who or what they claim to be and that the transmitted data has not been altered.

"We are very proud to continue building upon our relationship with NTRU. This license adds to a previous licensing agreement with Sony for the use of NTRU encryption technology," said Martin Kuhn - Vice President of strategic venture investment department at Sony. "NTRU security is suited to a wide range of applications where speed and power are important. NTRU is providing cryptosystems that provide security without hindering usability"

The need for powerful security has increased as wireless consumer devices have proliferated. NTRU security is designed to meet the security requirement of space-constrained consumer devices. NTRU technology is based on the first fundamental innovation in cryptography in the last twenty years. NTRU security provides audit capabilities that create digitally signed records of each and every transaction. These advantages, coupled with the fact that NTRU security does not require a cryptographic co-processor, could expand market opportunities for Sony.

"Sony is an innovator and they have recognized that iron-clad security is critical to realizing the potential of consumer applications and devices," said Ed King, Vice President of Sales and General Manager at NTRU. "NTRU will enable Sony to provide its customers with the highest degree of security and convenience available for securing consumer electronic devices."
