NTRU Founders Speak About the New Challenges of Internet Security During Brown University Inauguration

Mathematicians Deliver Presentation on the History, Evolution and Significance of Cryptography

Burlington, MA - October 23, 2001 - NTRU, providing the highest-performance security solutions for consumer devices and applications, today announced that company co-founders Jeffrey Hoffstein and Jill Pipher were selected to deliver a lecture on the foundations of encryption as part of the inaugural ceremony for Ruth J. Simmons as 18th president of Brown University. Their presentation, "Secrecy, Privacy, and Deception: The Mathematics of Cryptography," offered an introduction to the basics of cryptography and highlighted the new challenges of Internet security and privacy.

As mathematicians at Brown and co-founders of NTRU, Drs. Hoffstein and Pipher have closely followed the origins and evolution of cryptography and have contributed substantially to its innovation. Their presentation delved into the history of cryptography, as well as its impact on everyday life. It also explained the essential role of public key cryptography commerce and the ethical and philosophical issues related to it.
